Lydia Komen is a passionate Environmental Specialist with over seven years of hands-on experience in Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), Environmental Audits (EA), Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), Fire Safety Assessments (FSA), and Occupational Risk Assessments (RA). She is a registered Associate EIA/EA Expert (No. 10455) with the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and currently serves as an Assistant Environmental Specialist at Norken International Limited, a renowned engineering and management consultancy firm in Kenya.

Holding a degree in Environmental Studies and Resource Conservation from Kenyatta University, Lydia has successfully led and supported numerous assignments across sectors such as infrastructure, energy, agroforestry, and urban development. Her work includes major projects like the Kenya Off-Grid Solar Access Project (KOSAP), Safaricom facilities and Base stations ESIAs and EA, and the Nairobi–Nakuru–Mau Summit Highway development. She is also highly skilled in stakeholder engagement, socio-economic surveys, and the preparation of Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs).

Driven by a deep commitment to environmental stewardship, Lydia believes in integrating sustainability at the core of development. Her approach combines technical proficiency with social awareness, ensuring environmentally sound and socially inclusive project outcomes. She continues to champion responsible development through collaboration, capacity building, and evidence-based environmental solutions.
